About Us

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is John Rudolph and I began painting cars in 1972. I am a graduate from Michigan State University with a degree in Industrial Arts. (That’s right I am supposed to be teaching shop) and I did for a period of time but continued to tinker with painting vehicles and this developed into JR Auto Painting and Restoration.

The reason I feel it is important to introduce myself is because I am the guy that will be working on your vehicle. The majority of the time when you take your vehicles to other Auto Body Shops you have the opportunity to meet with the person writing the quote for you but you don’t get to discuss the renovation with the individuals that will actually work on your vehicle. The majority of shops are set up to do collision work so your vehicle is pushed into the back corner of the shop and worked on by several different technicians depending on the work load. Typically this ends up with loss or damaged parts and poor quality of work with excessive time delays on the project.

Here at JR Auto Painting I oversee the entire project from start to finish and provide the personalized attention your restoration deserves. At any given time, I only take on two major restorations so you can be sure each and every time you stop by to see progress on your vehicle you are guaranteed to see results. Over the years, I have had some customers that want to participate in various aspects of the restoration from disassembly to procuring their own parts. I am flexible with regards to the amount of owner participation.
